Curbing Road Rage with Positive Road Signs

We at WOGA think this is a pretty cool idea for curbing road rage, and positive thinking in general: A street artist is trying to bring some upbeat vibes to a Los Angeles suburb by posting a series of road signs¬†bearing positive messages. Scott Froschauer, whose “Word on the Street” installation is backed by the Glendale Library, Arts and Culture Department, created messages in the style of road signs and posted them all around the city of Glendale. The signs bear positive messages such as “relax,” “breathe,” “do your best” and “grow.” He says regular street signs lack positivity. “The main visual language in street signs is traditionally negative,” Froschauer explained. “The project is about imagining how would we give reassuring language in the place of negative language.” Froschauer’s website includes a map of all of the signs’ locations, which were chosen in consultation with city officials.
