A 1965 TV Drama Renewed for its 55th Season!

1965 gave us some great music – hits that we love to play on WOGA! Sonny and Cher – I Got You Babe, The Rolling Stones – Get Off My Cloud, and The Beatles – Ticket to Ride (to name a few) all came out in1965. That same year, a new half-hour TV drama premiered. And it’s still going!

NBC’s longest running series, the daytime soap opera Days Of Our Lives, will continue on for a 55th season, the network said on Tuesday. The show is currently in the middle of its 54th season and is coming off a 53rd season that saw a 4% lift in total viewers, when it averaged 2.55 million. “With writing that manages to weave together Salem’s iconic characters with current realities, Ken Corday and his team have ushered the show’s legacy into a new era that resonates with both longtime and new viewers,” said NBC. Earlier this year, it aired its 13,500th episode. Days Of Our Lives first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Set in the fake Midwestern town of Salem, Days Of Our Lives airs nationally on NBC in the United States and in more than 25 other countries.
